Chapter 7 - Enemy Surprise
* * * * * * * *
Zincite and Vivianite were sitting in a café at a round table discussing some plans of what to do in their first encounter with the scouts. To learn as much as they could about the scouts before going into battle, they all decided to check out Tokyo. They couldn’t believe how primitive it was. It was nothing what they knew of the Negaverse. People acted different and not all humans got away with crime.
Soon the other three entered. Columbite noticed his two companions and with Granite and Tincal behind him, he walked over to the table and sat.
“What are you two talking about?” Columbite asked.
“How to distract our enemy,” Zincite answered. “If we can’t harm three of them. We might as well try to get some fun out of it.”
“How do you propose in doing that?” Tincal asked.
“By,” Vivianite said. “Bring them to us. We need to find out where they have the most strength and where they’re most vulnerable.”
“And while we’re at it, get rid of the traitors,” Zincite said. “This is a perfect opportunity to get revenge on their betrayal. They cheated us. We never had the chance to work for the queen before we were all trapped in Eternal Sleep. Luckily Sailor Galaxia freed the Negaverse but didn’t have time to free us all and we were able to break free.”
“Any idea what the three scouts look like that cannot be harmed?” Columbite asked.
“Sailor Iron Mouse gave us some pictures to know who we are dealing with,” Zincite said. He showed two photos. One photo was of the scouts, the Starlights and Generals and finally of the Quartet, Trio and Sisters.
“And here are,” Vivianite said as she pulled out three more. “The three we need to watch out for.” Each of the three pictures showed the scout in her normal form and scout form.
A bell was heard indicating that someone was walking in. Zincite looked up to see who it was. It was a woman with long blond hair. He looked at the picture that was on the table of Sailor Venus and the features matched the woman who walked in.
“Sophie,” she said. “Could I have a small Chocolate ice-cream and a medium Butter Pecan?”
“Coming right up,” the lady behind the counter said. “I haven’t seen you in here in a while. How’s Molly?”
“Better,” Mina answered.
“I remember the day that she came in here. Melvin was here celebrating his new job. I knew they were no longer seeing each other but she made him act like they were still.”
“She was putting on a show for her mother who followed her here that night. Later she found her husband at the museum.”
“Does she still work across the street?” Sophie asked as she started to scoop out the Chocolate ice cream.
“No. After she met Neflite, she had quit her job. She no longer needs to work anyway.”
“Yeah it seems so. That wedding was amazing and seemed expensive.”
“It was. And now she’s getting over a miscarriage.”
“I feel sorry for her. I can’t imagine what’s she’s going through.” Sophie stood and handed Mina the ice cream then proceeded to get the other one.
The five generals looked at each other and nodded in agreement that Mina was one of the scouts in which Beryl wanted unharmed. It even helped when they overheard Mina talking about Molly’s miscarriage, which was conjured by Beryl.
“Here you go.” Sophie handed the other ice cream to Mina. “Anything else?”
“Nope.”
“Your boyfriend really likes Butter Pecan doesn’t he?”
“Yeah, I’m trying to get him to try other flavors.”
“Well that will be 3.50.”
Mina handed the woman the money then left.
“Well we’ve just found one of them,” Tincal said. “Don’t forget. Mongo apparently is on a mission with her. Now we just need to find the other two.”
“No need. We are going to attack later today,” Zincite whispered. “Now this is what we’re going to do.”
As Zincite proceeded to tell his companions about his plan to distract the scouts, Sophie was giving them an odd look. From the first moment the first walked in, she had a weird feeling about them. But she passed it off and continued working.
* * * * * * * *
Mongo had been following Mina all morning. He wanted to have Mina alone so he could talk to her some more. He did not feel comfortable being around her when she was with Malachite. He couldn’t shake the feeling that Malachite could discover who he was and warn the scouts and that was something he could not afford.
Finally at one point, Malachite left Mina’s side and headed off towards their apartment building. From the way he kissed Mina, it looked like he was leaving for a while. Mongo finally had his chance to speak to the scout.
He quickly walked over to her when Malachite was no longer around. “Mina. How are you?”
She turned. “Michael.”
“I was in the neighborhood and thought maybe you would like some company.” Mongo really hated what he was saying.
“Sure. I don’t mind. Let’s go to McKenna Park. I wouldn’t mind watching the last of the autumn leaves. Soon there will nothing left and it will be winter.”
The two walked to the pond and sat on a bench.
“I was wondering if I could ask you a question or two. See when I first met you, you seemed a little distraught and I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind telling me about was wrong that day. I know about your friend and how she lost a baby.”
Mina looked away and hesitated before answering. “That’s a touchy subject but I have been able to speak about it more often. See I had a son when I was fifteen. No one knew about it, not even my parents.
“I gave him up for adoption because I couldn’t take care of him. I didn’t have the money or resources. I was able to see him every once in a while and he knew that I was his mother. When he was three, he was in a plane accident and died.”
“That was about a year ago,” he said.
Mina opened her purse and brought out a picture. “Here is my only reminder of him.”
Mongo looked at the picture and gasped. The picture looked somewhat like him, short light blond hair. He looked at the back of it and read ‘Malachite Jr. Age 3.’ Now that her friends and family knew about her son, she had decided to place the name and age on the back of the picture.
“Was the father Malachite?”
“Yes. But I thought Malachite died but a few months ago, I found out he was still alive,” Mina lied. She knew the real reason but she couldn’t tell Michael.
That’s not true, Mongo thought. He did die and then came back to life a year ago. Her story is a lot like mine. I almost died in a plane crash. I need to find out for sure.
“I’ll return shortly. I have a few things I need to do.” Mongo got up and left without saying bye to Mina.
Mongo walked over to a huge bush then teleported. He needed to get answers and fast. His and Mina’s story were too coincidental. “Ninjanna!” he bellowed.
“You called,” she said, appearing before him from the floor.
“Yes. I need some information.”
“What is it you need?”
“I was ‘rescued’ from a plane crash by Queen Beryl about a year ago and Sailor Venus has just told me that she had a child who died from one.”
“And you want to know if the two are connected.”
“Yes. I want to know what the planes were.”
“I know you were taken from a plane called Nova Air, which was on its way to Florida. It had left Alaska not long before crashing.”
“And what do you know about Venus?”
“Her son was adopted and they were on their way to Florida for a vacation.”
“How can you get there from Japan?”
“Only one way. From Japanese Air to Alaska, transferring on to Nova Air to Florida.”
“Then we are connected. Any thing more can you give me?”
“No,” she said then vanished.
Mongo felt annoyed. He had a theory but only person was able to answer it. He disappeared and reappeared in the throne room wanting to get some more information.
“What do you want?” the queen asked annoyed.
“The truth. Am I the son of Sailor Venus and Malachite? I have learned she had a son who died.”
Queen Beryl smiled. “Very good. You have been doing your job. Yes you are the son of Malachite and Sailor Venus. True name Malachite Tom Aino-Tushco.”
Mongo’s anger started to rise. “Then why did you save me? Why didn’t you leave for dead when you knew who I was all along?”
Queen stood, infuriated. “Don’t question my motives. We brought you here when we found potential in you.”
“So this was her doing and not yours?”
“If you want to live to see tomorrow, you better shut your mouth before I lose my patience!”
Mongo saw the queen’s eyes flash in anger. He backed away knowing that he had just over stepped his boundary. He quickly bowed and then teleported back to the park where he left. He stepped from the behind the bush and walked back to Mina, his mother.
“Sorry about that,” he said. Though he now knew who he was talking to, he still hated her. “I had promised someone that I would do something for them if I came to the park.”
“That’s ok. I have just been sitting here, thinking about my son. I wonder if he was still alive, if I would have told anyone about him.”
“You mean if he was still alive, you might not have said anything.”
“I don’t know. My friends are very friendly when you get to know them.”
Mongo decided now was the time to start getting the information he needed from his main mission. “I wouldn’t mind meeting your friends.”
“Well I’m going to be at my friend’s mansion later. Why don’t you stop in around supper time?”
“I can do that. Where is your friend’s mansion?”
“Have you heard of Neflite Stanton?”
“Who hasn’t?” he asked sarcastically.
“I’m one of his good friends.” Mina started not liking his tone. “Well I should get going.” Mina stood and left.
* * * * * * * *
Sammy was sitting back against one of the trees as he watched Molly and Rita trained. He was fascinated with their training. He couldn’t wait to see them in action. He noticed they had come a long way from their first day of training.
He couldn’t believe how much danger Serena can get herself into. He actually never realized it until the night of Molly’s miscarriage. Since then, he had been on his toes. He didn’t know who to trust anymore. All he could trust were the scouts.
After watching the two women train, he decided he was going to go out. He went inside to speak to his mother and sure enough he found her hard at work in the kitchen. Even though there were maids and cooks, the kitchen was her favorite room in the house and she loved to bake.
“Mom, I’m going out for a while.”
“Where will you be going?” Mrs. Tsukino was busy baking and she did not look up from her work.
“I was thinking maybe seeing if any my friends are at the arcade.”
“Be careful.”
“I will.”
Sammy walked out of the kitchen and to the front foyer to grab his jacket. Once his jacket was on, he went outback to the shed and unlocked his bike. Just as he got to the driveway, he was met with the Quartet’s van. He waved at them and continued on his way.
It took a few minutes to get to the city by bike. He pulled onto a street and kept on biking until he reached the nearest arcade center. He missed going to the Game Center, where Andrew worked but it was too far out of reach by bike. So he had to substitute. Luckily a few of his friends from school lived in the area so he knew he’d find his friends.
He locked his bike at the bike rack and proceeded inside. He took a quick look around to see if any of his friends were there, but they weren’t. He went to his favorite game, ‘Sailor V’ and plugged in a few quarters and started to play.
After about an hour of playing, he was bored. He discontinued playing and left the arcade to see if his friends were at the park. He got as far as his bike before five people ended up blocking his way.
“Excuse me, but I need to get to my bike,” Sammy said.
“Oh we’re sorry,” the female said. She was the only female in the group.
“But you won’t be going any further than where you are now,” the tallest said.
“At least not on your own,” the shortest smiled.
“What are you talking about?” Sammy was getting a little nervous.
“Oh nothing,” the female said again. “Just...” she snapped her fingers and all five people were no longer wearing normal clothes. They were wearing gray uniforms.
Sammy gasped in horror. “You’re the Negaverse.”
“Your smart for being the brother of Sailor Moon,” the tallest answered.
“Cool it, Columbite,” one of the shorter men with blue hair said.
“Shut up, Tincal,” the shortest snapped. “This is part of my plan. See this boy will be bait so we can see the scouts in action. His disappearance will make the scouts come looking for him and we’ll be waiting.”
Sammy turned and was about to run when the female jumped and blocked his path. “Where do you think you’re going? Tincal, go and clear everyone out. Then perhaps, we can get on to the second part of the plan.”
“I like that,” he said. “The sooner we get this over, the sooner I can get back to working on my latest project.” Tincal left the group and went inside. Within minutes, the owner and a few customers came running out of the building, screaming.
“I always said Tincal is a scary person,” Columbite chuckled. “Grab him and let’s move.”
Vivianite grabbed Sammy and dragged him inside. She moved to a bare wall, pushing Sammy against it. She pointed her finger and the wall seemed to move and captured Sammy’s wrists to secure him.
“Might as well get comfy,” Zincite said. “We may be here a bit before the brats show to rescue this pathetic kid.”
* * * * * * * *
Mrs. Tsukino had just finished working on the fifth batch of cookies when she realized the time. It had been two hours since Sammy left and there was no word from him. Normally he would call if he met up with his friends or would have been back by now. She started to get worried.
She left the kitchen to find Neflite. He was outback helping Molly into the pool for another energy boost. Training was over for another day.
“Neflite,” Mrs. Tsukino came out. “I’m a little worried. Sammy left a couple hours ago and he hasn’t called or returned yet.”
“Where was he heading?”
“He didn’t really say. He went on bike and normally would call if he was with his friends.”
“I’ll take a look. One place he probably stopped at was the arcade. He likes to go there and it’s close by.”
Neflite walked into the house and to his private room where he consulted the stars. “I ask for help. A woman who lives here wishes to know if her son is in danger. Please give me a sign.”
The room went black, and then a star map appeared. He looked over towards the Leo constellation as it blinked at him. To himself he had made the Constellation Leo as his indication for danger.
“Damn. He’s in trouble,” he cursed. “The scouts should be arriving any time for the evening.”
Neflite allowed the room to return to normal and then left to see if the scouts were arriving. He walked into the living room to find three of the scouts.
“We may have trouble,” he said.
“What kind?” Lita asked. Her, Serena and Raye had arrived. Every week, the scouts had dedicated an evening to play games and such at Neflite’s.
“Sammy is missing and the stars are saying he’s in trouble.”
“He’s always getting into trouble,” Serena said.
“That may be so but your mother is worried. He normally contacts us and he hasn’t.”
“Alright. We’ll check it out,” Serena said. “Where’s his normal areas in hanging out?” She feared the Negaverse might have been involved.
* * * * * * * *
The three scouts arrived at the spot Neflite said he would have gone first. They looked all around to see if Sammy was still around, playing tricks. Serena didn’t think he would have done that after witnessing the attack at Mina’s party.
“Anything?” she asked worried.
“Nothing,” Lita said.
“Except his bike,” answered Raye. “I’m getting bad vibes.”
“What should we do?” Lita asked. Both women looked at their leader.
“Raye and I will go to the roof and see if we can see anyone inside from the skylight. Lita you stay down here and contact the others, while maintaining guard until they get here.”
Raye walked to the side of the building where there was a ladder, which went to the roof. When both girls were on the roof, they went over to the nearest skylight. Serena took a quick peak and sure enough she could see her brother pinned against the wall.
“He’s there,” she said. “They better get here soon.”
* * * * * * * *
Lita brought out her communicator just as Raye and Serena walked around the building. “We have a situation developing at the arcade. Sammy may be in there with the Negaverse.” Lita knew everyone heard and she turned off the communicator before she could get caught.
Within a few minutes Jedite, Amara, Trista, Amy and Michelle arrived. The four women were in scout form. Jedite thought it would be good to have the rest on standby until they knew the complete situation.
“Where are Serena and Raye?” Jedite asked.
“Up on the roof to see if we’re right,” Lita answered.
“Let’s go.” Jedite grasped Lita’s hand and they teleported to the roof.
“The verdict is...” Uranus said.
“One word,” Serena said, still looking in the window. “Negaverse.”
“Let’s do it,” said Neptune.
Serena stood and transformed. Raye and Lita took their wands out and did the same.
“Now let's get my brother back.”
* * * * * * * *
The five generals were sitting around, bored, as they waited for the scouts to arrive. Finally their wait was over. A crashing sound from above them was heard and shattered glass came down, with the scouts in tow.
“Ok, Negasleeze,” Sailor Moon hissed. “Release my brother.”
“About time,” Vivianite said as she stood from leaning against the counter.
“Damn!” Jedite cursed.
“Well, well, well,” said Zincite. “The first of the traitors.”
“You know these guys?” Uranus asked Jedite.
“Can’t you tell,” Mars answered. “They wear the uniforms of the Generals.”
“Right you are,” Columbite said. “We are the remainders of the Generals. You killed the others.”
“Others?” Sailor Moon blinked. “There are more of you?”
“There were several,” Jedite answered. “But they all went into Eternal Sleep when you defeated the Negaverse the first time.”
“But you were trapped in there.”
“I was Mars. But I was trapped by Beryl not by the defeat of the Negaverse.”
“Enough talk,” Tincal growled. “Time to get down to business.” He jumped, letting out a flame energy ball fly from his hands, which the scouts easily dodged.
“Can’t they come up with something different?” Sailor Pluto cursed. “This is getting old.”
“You’re telling me,” Sailor Moon said.
“Well how about this for a different taste.” Granite started to spin, arms spread out.
Slowly the others joined in. A wind started to develop and as each General started to spin. Soon the wind was too fast and strong for the girls. They had to grab on to something to stop from flying into the wall.
“We could...use some help right about now,” Sailor Moon barely said.
“Jedite,” Mars yelled so he could hear. “Get the others.”
Jedite nodded and disappeared as the wind kept picking up.
* * * * * * * *
Mongo showed up at the mansion. Not to his surprise he saw most of the team. There were a few missing but that didn’t faze him. He quickly looked for Mina and found her talking with two friends. He didn’t recognize these friends.
“Hello,” he said.
“Michael,” Mina said. “Mrs. Tsukino must have showed you in. This is Alan and Anne, they are from out of town.”
“Nice to meet you,” Alan said. “What do you guys do here?”
“Well every Tuesday night we come here to play games and just relax.”
Jedite suddenly came into the room. Just before he opened his mouth, he noticed a stranger in the room. Neflite, Malachite, Zoisite you are needed. The ‘Team 5’ is attacking Sailor Moon.
Mina whipped her head to Jedite as she heard what he telepathically sent. Team 5?
Hard to explain right now, Malachite said telepathically to Mina.
“Mina,” Mongo said. “Is something wrong?”
Mina turned to Mongo. “No. I just noticed Jedite and he looks like he just came back from babysitting.” Mina turned for a quick second to find Jedite had left.
“Where?” Mongo asked.
“He must have just left to find the babies' parents,” she lied.
* * * * * * * *
Jedite reappeared with the other three as well. All four men had to brace themselves of the wind. The six scouts didn’t even notice them as they were still hanging on for dear life from the wind. Sailor Moon was close to letting go.
The ex-Generals all stood between the scouts and the ‘Team 5’ and placed a barrier. The scouts quickly fell to the ground, as they no longer were being pushed by the wind. The five Generals quickly stopped as they could sense an old power.
“All the traitors are here,” Vivianite said.
“And we didn’t think,” Zoisite said. “The Team 5 still lived.”
“At least now you know why we are called the Team 5. You know we work as a team,” Granite said. “Together we are just as strong as the Doom and Gloom Girls.”
“Well you won’t be around long enough to see our victory,” Sailor Uranus shouted. “URANUS WORLD SHAKING!”
“NEPTUNE DEEP SUBMERGE!”
The two power attacks were not fast enough to hit the Generals as they quickly jumped. Zoisite saw them in the air. He quickly snapped his hand out to use his powers to grasp Uranus and Neptune’s attack, and then swung his hand up towards the Generals. The two power attacks suddenly jumped from the their original destination and flew up, hitting the Team 5.
The five Generals were thrown from each other but just before either of them were about to hit a wall, they vanished. Sammy’s restraints released him and he slumped to the floor.
Sailor Moon, for the moment, forgot about the Generals and ran to her brother. “Are you ok?”
“Yeah,” he quietly said.
“Are they gone?”
“For now,” Malachite answered.
“Who are they? Besides being known as Generals,” Sailor Pluto asked.
“Individually they are weak but combined they are known as the Team 5. Strongest next to us of the Generals,” Neflite answered. He walked over to Sammy. “You’re lucky your mother keeps a good eye on you.”
“Why?”
“Mom,” Sailor Moon said. “Was a little nervous that something happened to you. You hadn’t called or returned and you normally call if you’re with your friends.”
“That’s true. I came here to see if they were here and stayed for a few games but then decided to leave but...”
“Got no further than outside the door,” Zoisite said. “Come on. Let’s head for home. Mina has a visitor there named Michael.”
“I heard about him,” Sailor Pluto said. “Mina had lost her wallet at the hospital and he returned it to her.”
The ex-Generals gathered around the scouts and Sammy and they all teleported back to the mansion. With a quick snap of the fingers, Neflite teleported Sammy’s bike as well.
When they were gone, the Team 5 reappeared.
“It worked,” Zincite said. “They fell for it.”
“And now we know some of their power,” Vivianite said. “They are strongest when together and weakest when not.”
“Yeah I noticed that they didn’t have everyone here. They must arrive in groups as back up,” Tincal said.
“I agree,” Zincite answered. “Why send everyone in at once, when they can come in slowly. Queen Beryl will like this little bit of information. Let’s head back and tell her our news.” The five Generals disappeared.
Now the scouts had another battle to deal with. It was going to be tough to defeat Beryl and now there were five more Generals in the mix and they were strong when combined together. At least they had the Negaverse traitors to help them out. And of course they still had two trump cards up their sleeves, Alan and Anne and the return of Sailor Earth and Sailor Sun.
