Chapter 8 - United

"Mum!"
Mrs. Baker turned around. "Molly?"
Molly jumped from Nephrite and ran to her mother. "Mum!" She fell into her mother's arms and sniffled.
"Molly! You're alive!" Mrs. Baker said and held her tight.
Nephrite, thinking, leaned on the doorway of the livingroom.
Molly was crying. "Serena is dead," she said, sadly.
"What?" Mrs. Baker said.
"The Starlight Tower," Molly said, desperate. "She was inside when it broke apart. She and Ami, Raye and Lita." Molly's words were broken by crying.
Mrs. Baker stroked Molly carefully and snuggled up to her head. "Serena's mother phoned me yesterday," she said. "Serena is in hospital. The doctors say, she's got a chance to survive."
Molly raised her head. "Really?" she said, smiling as more tears rolled down her cheeks. "That's great!" She again fell around her mother's neck. "That's great, mum!"
Nephrite smiled and wiped a tear from his eye.

Where the Starlight Tower had been, there now was a scaffold. Beside it stood a crane.
Nephrite was sitting under a tree, watching it.
"You here?" he heard a male voice.
Nephrite turned his head. A man with short black hair stood near him. "Darien?" Nephrite whispered. "No, Tuxedo Mask."
Darien was smiling, cynically. "Don't call me that, Nephrite," he said, looking to the Starlight Tower, which was being rebuilt. "I'm not worthy to be called that."
"You always save Sailor Moon," Nephrite said. "You should be proud of yourself."
Darien's eyes got smaller. "It's my fault that she's dead now. If I hadn't been so egoistical about getting the seven Rainbow Crystals..."
"You did what you thought was right," Nephrite said. "None of us had calculated that the tower would suddenly collapse."
Darien lay his hand on his face. "I wish I could turn back time," he said.
Nephrite smiled. "The last time we saw each other, you were inviting me to a drink. How about we make up for it now?"

Milk made the black hot liquid turn into a bright brown.
"Do you know that Serena is in hospital?" Nephrite asked, stirring his coffee with a spoon.
"She's what?" Darien asked, shaken. In his hand he held his cup of coffee. "How? Why? I mean, because of what?"
Nephrite looked down his cup. "She has had an accident."
Darien buried his face in his hands. "She's always been so clumsy," Darien whispered. "And now, when I haven't been outside for so many days... Silly Serena, why do you do such stupid things?"
Nephrite drank from his coffee. "We could visit her after that," he said. "You for sure have much to tell each other."

There was a knock on the white door.
"Yes?" a weak voice said.
The door opened and Darien entered the room with Nephrite.
The girl in the bed smiled. "Mr. Stanton," she said. Then she looked at the other man. "Darien?"
Darien made a roguish face. "Yes, it's me," he said. "How are you, Serena?" He lightly touched her hand.
Serena breathed. Her body was covered by bandages and propped up with pillows. Beside her hung a round bottle filled with a transparent liquid. "I'm okay," she said. "Just the moving hurts a little."
Darien took a chair and sat beside the bed.
Serena cracked a smile. "Why are you here? I mean, I really haven't calculated with you."
"I haven't been out of my house for days," Darien said. "While I was walking, I met Mr. Stanton and he told me about your accident."
"Why haven't you been out of your house for so long?" Serena asked.
Darien looked down. "I felt cruel," he said.
Nephrite went to Darien and whispered into his ear: "You should help her get healthy."
"How?" Darien replied.
Nephrite took one of his hands. "I trust in you," he said.
"What are you whispering?" Serena wanted to know.
"Darien wants to show you something," Nephrite said.
"Serena, I..." Darien started. "Well, it's... I can heal wounds with my hands."
Serena smiled. "Like Tuxedo Mask?"
Darien gulped. "Yes, like Tuxedo Mask," He lay his hands on her shoulders and ran them over her body. "How do you feel?" he asked.
"Much better now," Serena said. She carefully rose up. "It almost doesn't hurt anymore."
Darien smiled. "I'm glad about it."
"Are you really?" Serena asked.
"Yes, I am," Darien whispered.
"Would you even be glad, if Sailor Moon and me are the same person?" Serena wanted to know.
Darien took her into his arms. "Yes, I would!"
"Tuxedo Mask," Serena whispered. Tears were running down her cheek.
Nephrite, pleased, wanted to leave the room, when suddenly one of Serena's tears started shining. Amazed, he paused.
The tear grew more and more bright and when the whole room was shining, the seven Rainbow Crystals flew out of Darien's pocket and united with Serena's tear. This combination turned to a new crystal, which was transparent and shining. Sailor Moon's sceptre appeared and the crystal went to it.
"The Silver Imperium Crystal," Nephrite whispered. "This has to be the Silver Imperium Crystral." He remembered the days when Zoycite was unsuccessfully searching for it, the days he and Zoycite were arguing about which of them had the right to search for it. His search for the Silver Imperium Crystal in Molly's body. This had to be the reason why his Black Crystal reacted to Molly. The Silver Imperium Crystal was a product of love. If Zoycite could have convinced Malachite? Nephrite was searching for a clock. He found one beside a cupboard. It said 5:47 pm. Nephrite closed his eyes and disappeared.

The room was dark. Just the coloured windows made it bright. The room looked like inside a church.
An ice blue light appeared, followed by a cloud of cherry blossoms. Malachite looked around. "Nephrite?" he shouted.
"Maybe he's too late," Zoycite said.
"I am not!" they heard Nephrite's voice. He was walking to them. With him was Molly.
"I hope you know that I am not fond of being here, Nephrite," Malachite said.
"I haven't expected it," Nephrite answered.
"So you want me to betray Queen Beryl?" Malachite said.
Nephrite nodded. "Directly expressed, yes."
"It was your choice to betray the Negaverse, Nephrite, but don't put me into it. I want to have nothing to do with it!" Malachite said.
"Beryl is still your Queen, yes" Nephrite said "but think about what you are fighting for. Was it necessary to suck humans' energy?"
Malachite took Zoycite's hand and showed him the arm with the ring. "It wasn't necessary to suck Zoycite's energy. And now take off this thing from her!"
Nephrite shook his head. "So she can kill me? No!"
"I could also kill you," Malachite said.
"You wouldn't, if you hurt Zoycite with it," Nephrite said. "I'll just take it off, when I am really sure that you two are on our side."
Malachite smiled. "So you still don't trust us?"
Nephrite shook his head. "No!"
"You're right," Malachite said. "I don't understand why I should betray my Queen."
"Because she's a monster," Nephrite said.
"Don't talk about her this way!" Malachite scolded.
"Then, why did she kill Jadeite?" Nephrite wanted to know.
Malachite was silent. "What does this matter to you?" he finally said. "You of all, who has called him a fool!"
"I was bound by the evil," Nephrite said. "Molly has healed me."
Malachite grinned, cynically. "So in love, general Nephrite?"
"Don't make jokes about it!" Molly said.
"Shut up!" Zoycite shouted. "You've got nothing to say! You're not one of us!"
In this moment a flash went out of Zoycite's ring and she screamed in pain. "Stop it, Nephrite!" she said in tears. "I can't stand it anymore!"
Nephrite ignored her and looked at Malachite. "I hope you realize how serious our situation is."
"Oh yes, of course," Malachite said. "It's exactly so serious, how you take it."
"We all were shocked, when Jadeite suddenly wasn't with us anymore," Nephrite said. "We feared Beryl more and more. Malachite, if you don't do it for me, do it for Jadeite!"
Malachite sighed. "What is your plan?"
"Beryl has to realize why she is doing this," Nephrite said. "We have to confront her with her weak spot."
Malachite thought. "She cared about if something happened to Darien and wanted me to bring him to her. It appeared that she likes him."
"That sounds like a weak spot," Nephrite said. "Let's confront her tomorrow."

Molly was laying in bed. The room was dark and just lighted by a bedside lamp. Nephrite was sitting on Molly's bed.
"Serena's mother has phoned me," Molly said. "Serena is now out of the hospital." She looked at the ceiling. "I ask myself, why she got healthy so fast."
"Maybe love has saved her," Nephrite said, smiling.
Molly thought. "I've watched Zoycite today. She is suffering very much because of this ring."
"She deserves it," Nephrite said. "She has almost destroyed our life."
"I was just thinking," Molly said. "If you want us to talk with Beryl and turn her good, you should also try to make peace with Zoycite."
Nephrite shivered. "I don't know if I can do this."
"It for sure isn't easy," Molly said. "But do you want to grow more misery out of this enmity?"
"No," Nephrite said. "Of that I have enough."
"Then try to find a way out of your arguing," Molly said. "Zoycite has so much temper. It would be a pity, if she uses it just for evil."
